Candle Lighter

Before, and after, services the acolyte is responsible for lighting and extinguishing the various candles in the sanctuary. To accomplish these tasks the acolyte uses a candle lighter (also known as a candle snuffer).
In this photo you see a black tip (black from soot) curving away from the body of the candle lighter. Immediately below the curved area is a slight protruding handle, used to slide the wax wick inside up, to light, and down to extinguish the flame.
To the right side of the candle lighter is a bell shaped cone. This portion is used to extinguish the various candles located in the sanctuary.
